Anal disorders mainly include problems that occur with anal area such as hemorrhoids, fissures, abscesses, cancer etc. Anus is basically the last part of the intestinal tract that stores feces or stools. It is a sensitive area as it consists of nerve endings and blood vessels that get triggered on irritation.
Different types of anal disorders
Anal fishes one of the very common issues faced by most of the individuals. It is also widely known as anorectal pressure which is basically a linear slit or tear in the lining of the lower anal canal. Most of the anal fissure gets healed naturally and does not require any medical treatment while in severe cases one may require surgery and medications. Acute anal fissure is superficial and shallow while chronic anal fissure extends deeper through the anus exposing the underlying muscles which causes severe pain, discomfort and even bleeding while passing the stool.
Anal fistula
Anal fistula disorder can be described as an abnormal narrow tunnel like passage which basically is the remains of an old anal abscess after it has drained. In some cases when an anal abscess has drained, an anal fistula develops at the skin surface that may constantly discharge pus or bloody fluid. In many cases the opening from which the discharge releases closes temporarily causes a painful pocket of pus.
Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are a very common anal disorder which usually doesn’t cause a lot of pain. In severe cases the blood vessels in a hemorrhoid at the edge of anal surface can clot which can further be triggered by constipation or Diarrhoea. Constant irritation causes the hemorrhoid to become swollen, hard, painful and it may also cause bloody discharge in severe cases.
Anal abscess
Anal abscess is basically a painful collection of pus that causes swelling around the anus. Most of this abscess arises spontaneously and does not cause any other health problem. Most inner abscess are located in the opening of the anus and really they are deeper in the anal canal causing discomfort, pain or bleeding.
