Luminal Disorders

Luminal disorder is basically an inflammatory condition of the intestine that is triggered by various gastrointestinal and non gastrointestinal diseases. There are several mechanism that have an impact on this Luminous inflammation such as an immuno suppressive therapy or antibiotics. According to various resources there are certain gastrointestinal and non Gastrointestinal diseases that are responsible for luminal disorder. Irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, hepatic encephalopathy, eosinophilic esophagitis are some of these diseases that trigger inflammatory response in intestines.


The symptoms for luminal disorder can vary from person to person based upon those conditions. It may range from mild to severe and even asymptomatic in rare cases. Some of the common symptoms may be

Luminal stenting is a laparoscopic surgical procedure where an expert gastroenterologist places stents in the gastrointestinal tracts in order to expand the lumin or inner space of the intestine. This helps in correcting serious obstructions that create problems and clears the pathway for better digestion and absorption.

Crohn's disease is one of the most common types of inflammatory bowel diseases that affects intestines. Inflammation usually affects the gastrointestinal tract, especially the small intestine. In many cases the inflammation may spread to deeper layers of the bowel causing abdominal pain, fatigue, weight loss, malnutrition, severe diarrhea and other digestive complications. Certain cases of crohn's disease may be very painful and could lead to life threatening complications if not diagnosed in time. As per today there is no cure for crohn's disease but there are several medications and therapies that help in reducing various signs and symptoms.
